A silk threaded necklace (no clasp) featuring moonstone, garnet, Atlantisite, morganite and various vintage metal alloy findings. The owl pendant is made of polymer clay, hand painted and sealed carrying plant dyed tassels upcycled from vintage sari material.

In my quest to learn more about my Irish ancestry, I came across the origins of the Banshee:

The unsettling, shrill screech of the native Irish barn owl in the dead of night is widely believed to be the inspiration behind the legend of the Bean Sídhe (Banshee), a spirit that wails to warn of impending doom.

While some Irish folk stories view an owl entering the home as bad luck, still some Celtic warriors wore Owl amulets to enhance their strategic vision. 

In Irish mythology, the cry of a Banshee is not meant to be malicious, but rather a warning or a lament that guides a family member peacefully through the transition of death.

Often viewed as a guide for the soul, the owl represents the shedding of the old, the embrace of the unknown, and a crossing over from one phase of life to the next.

Whether you choose to interpret this lore literally or metaphorically, I hope you will remain respectfully curious about our nocturnal friends and what they may have to teach us.
