It seems like modern (the last few hundred years) understanding of those of us with big imaginations, strong feelings and convictions has done everything possible to shut us away, silence, or diagnose us with some sort of affliction to discredit our depths as dangerous rather than informative.

Yes, diagnoses are valid and we should still continue to seek professional support when possible. It’s also true that our big inner worlds can also be an asset.

Imagine if those who are color blind preferred those who can see the full spectrum to be silenced or ridiculed for describing all the shades of a shade of magenta. Ridiculous, right?

If you are or know someone with an expansive inner world don’t be afraid of swimming in the depths of that constant stream of consciousness. Be more afraid of forcing a mermaid to live half a life on land.
