The feather, bone and claws earrings I offer are of my own interpretation and should not be considered among the sacred, medicinal or ceremonial jewelry of indigenous peoples nor affiliated with any closed practices.

What I am offering is my own heritage: nothing is waste; everything can serve a meaningful purpose.

I come from a long line of southern descendants of poor, yet determined immigrants.  Whether it was fleeing their homeland, making something out of nothing, or merely keeping the family fed for one more day they did whatever it took to survive.

These people relied on their ingenuity, creativity and defiance to make it. While many of them should not necessarily be remembered as citizens of the year, all of them will be remembered by me at least, as people who didn’t give up.

Animals are similar to us in that way. They endure. They survive. They do whatever it takes to keep the family fed. The ways we humans have compromised their natural environments and resources has made their survival more and more difficult.

Wildfires, droughts, extreme heat, and commercial hunting has claimed many innocent lives. The bones and claws are collected from the animals who tried their best to overcome the hurdles our society has set. They may have lost the fight, but they will not be forgotten. Wear the bones with respect for what they endured. Wear them with the dignity they were so often denied in life. Wear them with the intention to live in harmony with nature and not against it.

Approximately 5” - 7” long.

Gold plated hypoallergenic surgical steel ear wires.

The clay wolf pair feature coyote claws, wire wrapped raw quartz crystal points from the Ozark on driftwood from the creek on our property.
