Liminal, as it’s used in literature, describes the “in-between”, the ambiguous space of thresholds and transitions. This writing device is often depicted as tension, challenging norms, exploring identities and change. It highlights moments of uncertainty where identities are fluid, societal rules relax, and the self is redefined, fostering growth or exposing anxieties.
