In spiritual practices the left hand represents intuition, receptiveness and the divine femininity.
I was chatting with a friend about life transitions last week and it occurs to me how this is a collective experience we don’t talk about enough.
So often we’re told to “fake it til you make it” or “do it scared”; and while those ideas do serve a purpose at times, they aren’t meant to be the way we live our entire lives.
This is especially if you’re a survivor of prolonged trauma. You’ve already been faking the illusion of okay to survive. You’ve already been living and doing things scared. Thinking you have to take on even more fear —this time of the unknown, can keep us trapped in a hell-loop.
Transitions are going to happen anyway. Moving from able bodied to disabled; from healthy to ill; from childfree to parenthood; employed to unemployed; the transitions will keep coming.
These events aren’t always negative. Changes we’ve prayed and hoped for may often feel just as intimidating.
We don’t have to charge forward into new chapters. There’s a lot of pressure to walk boldly through the doorway as if even the pretense of confidence is a sufficient shield against harm.
What if we chose to walk gently forward? Not with fear at the forefront but with curiosity. What if we affirmed our commitment to move forward with as much grace for ourselves and others as possible?
The left hand talisman invites the wearer to lean into the moment you’re in. Not ruminating on the past; not anticipating the future. Right now, be receptive to the good, the potentials in front of you. Accept help where it shows up. Be curious about what your intuition is telling you. Embrace the divine feminine within that says spiritual strength is renewal; self sacrifice is a choice; wholeness is a birthright: everything you’ve ever needed to be okay has always been within.
