“Once in a blue moon“ is an idiom tied to the astronomical event of having a second full moon in a single calendar month. Because it takes roughly 29.5 days to complete a lunar cycle a blue moon only occurs once every two to three years.

This term used to refer to an absurd duration of time. Similar to the phrase, “when pigs fly,” it was meant to suggest a small probability an event would ever happen.

Sometimes we feel that way about dreams, don’t we? An opportunity we may not have taken we now regret losing. Or perhaps we think the opportunity will never arrive for us. But what if we keep our dreams a bit more optimistically curious. Second chances are often discounted altogether because they are not exact carbon copies of the original. Perhaps you have or will an opportunity to do something again. Don’t downplay the possibility of a dream coming true simply because a few factors have changed.
