This is my artistic interpretation of Southern Gothic. The inspiration for this piece is being aware of the timeline we’re currently experiencing together. A time in which after so much has changed, nothing of substance seems to have really changed at all.
I suppose the dark, hauntingly beautiful desire for a life of purpose in even the most difficult of times has given me a sort of melancholic nostalgia.
Creating beauty in the aftermath of what remains is a trademark survival skill of a southern woman.
The wreath frame is handwoven using sustainably sourced sticks, and a sun dried vine from our garden.
It was then decorated using sun dried lavender and eucalyptus. Fabric roses, dahlias, tulips and mushrooms in colors black, burgundy and shades of purple from lilac to eggplant create warmth and ground the emotional complexity of this one of a kind statement piece.
Measuring approximately 20” in diameter (including the leaves that extend approximately 1” from the frame).
If not hanging indoors, I recommend displaying under a covered porch or in a shaded area to protect the wreath from the elements.
We use recycled packaging materials whenever possible. Our mailers may not be trendy, but our commitment to maintaining a sustainable and eco conscious business is essential to our purpose.
